Changing Our Internal Narrative
“He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies.” Psalms 103:4 NLT
A big part of the struggle with our health is healing the thoughts we have about ourselves. When we look in the mirror so often we go through a mental cycle, almost like a checklist - saying well I don’t like this, this part could be better, my clothes don’t look great, I don’t even know what my hair is trying to do today - then circle back to “oh well, this is as good as it’s going to get”.
I was reading this verse and the Holy Spirit told my soul - stop drowning your thoughts and saturating your soul with these ideas that lead to spiritual death. Instead reflect on who I am and I will turn those thoughts from doubt and self hate to ones of love and mercy. Not only do I think these things about you, but I live inside you and want my thoughts to be your thoughts.
You can change your internal narrative! My makeup skills might be lackluster at best, my clothes quite unfashionable, and hair an air dried mess, but as I look in the mirror I have started to see the crown of a beautiful daughter of the King of Kings, clothed in love and mercy!
